Booking your first body sculpting appointment can feel like a leap into the unknown. What equipment is used? Will it hurt? What do you wear? This walkthrough answers all of those questions based on how sessions actually run at Wumi Body & Face Studio — so you arrive informed and at ease.
For broader context on what body sculpting involves, see the complete body sculpting guide and the non-surgical body sculpting overview.
Before the Session: Your Consultation
Every new client at Wumi Body & Face Studio starts with a separate consultation (£20, 30 minutes) before any treatment begins. This isn’t a sales pitch — it’s a genuine suitability check.
During the consultation, Wumi discusses your goals, medical history, and lifestyle. She explains which techniques are most appropriate for you and sets realistic expectations. Results from non-surgical body sculpting build gradually over a course of sessions, and Wumi will be clear about that from the start. If there are any reasons a particular treatment isn’t suitable for you, she will tell you.
You must be 18 or over to receive treatment.
Arriving for Your Session
Whether you visit the studio at Copperfields Walk, Dartford, Kent, or book the Mobile Home Service, the session begins the same way: a brief check-in to confirm how you’ve been since the consultation and whether anything has changed.
If you’re visiting the studio, the space is private and professional. If Wumi is coming to you, she brings all the equipment needed — one of the practical advantages of the mobile service across Kent, London, and Essex.
Wear comfortable, loose clothing that gives easy access to the area being treated. For abdominal or waist work, a two-piece or something you can roll up works well.
The Treatment: What Actually Happens
The specific combination of techniques varies by treatment and individual, but here is what the most common modalities feel like in practice.
Ultrasound cavitation uses low-frequency sound waves to target fat cells beneath the skin. A gel is applied to the area, and a smooth handheld device is moved in slow circular motions. Most clients hear a faint internal hum — this is normal and not painful. The sensation is warm and mild. You’ll often smell a very faint odour, which is simply the cavitation process at work.
Radio frequency (RF) follows a similar process. The device heats the deeper layers of skin to support collagen production and improve skin firmness. The warmth is noticeable — some clients find it deeply relaxing. Wumi monitors the skin temperature throughout and adjusts the settings to keep everything comfortable.
Vacuum therapy uses controlled suction to stimulate circulation and support the lymphatic system. It can feel like a firm, moving massage — vigorous but not sharp. It is commonly used on the buttocks and thighs as part of a non-surgical BBL or thigh sculpting treatment.
Wood therapy (maderotherapy) uses smooth wooden tools to work across the body in firm strokes and rolling movements. It feels like a deep-tissue massage and is particularly effective for areas of congestion or sluggish circulation.
Lymphatic drainage massage is the gentlest of all the modalities — light, rhythmic, and very soothing. It is often incorporated at the end of a session to help the body process waste products more efficiently. You can also book it as a standalone treatment; see the lymphatic drainage massage service for more detail.
Mid-Session: Communication Matters
Throughout the session, Wumi checks in about pressure, temperature, and comfort. If anything feels too intense or uncomfortable, say so — the settings can always be adjusted. Good communication during the session makes a real difference to both your experience and your results.
After the Treatment: Immediate Aftercare
Once the treatment is complete, Wumi will wipe down the treated area and apply any finishing products. She’ll give you specific aftercare guidance, which typically includes:
- Drinking at least 1.5–2 litres of water over the rest of the day
- Avoiding alcohol for 24–48 hours
- Avoiding heavy exercise immediately after (light walking is fine)
- Keeping the treated area moisturised
These steps support your body’s natural processes after the session. For a fuller breakdown, the body sculpting recovery guide covers aftercare in detail.
What You Might Notice Afterwards
Some clients notice a temporary warmth or mild redness in the treated area — this is normal and settles quickly. Others feel a slight tingling or increased awareness of the area for a few hours.
You won’t see dramatic changes after a single session. Body sculpting is a gradual process, and changes in the appearance of the area build over a course of treatments. This is not a weight-loss treatment, and it is not a substitute for a balanced diet and regular exercise — Wumi will always be straightforward about this.
Booking Your First Session
If you’re ready to experience a session for yourself, book your consultation or get in touch with any questions. Wumi is happy to talk through what a session would look like for your specific goals before you commit.
The body sculpting guide and the cornerstone overview at Wumi Body & Face Studio are also good starting points if you want to explore further before booking.
Non-surgical treatments have no downtime, but results build gradually and vary between individuals. Not a weight-loss or medical service. A consultation and suitability check are required; you must be 18 or over.
