How to Prepare Your Home for a Body Sculpting Visit

Wumi's mobile service brings professional body sculpting treatments straight to your door — a little preparation ensures your session runs smoothly and comfortably from the very first minute.

Reviewed by Wumi (Toyin Adewumi) · Updated 2026-06-27

One of the genuine benefits of choosing a mobile body sculpting service is that you skip the commute and recover in your own space. But arriving at a client’s home with professional ultrasound cavitation, radio frequency, or vacuum therapy equipment does require a little co-ordination on your side. This guide walks you through exactly how to prepare so your visit starts on time and you get the most from every minute.

Choose the Right Room

Wumi’s portable equipment is compact but you do need a clear, stable working area. A bedroom is often the best choice — a bed can double as your treatment surface for some treatments, and the environment is already calm and private. A living room with furniture pushed back works equally well.

Aim to clear a floor space of at least 2 metres by 1.5 metres. If Wumi is bringing a portable couch (standard for most non-surgical body sculpting sessions), that space needs to be accessible from both sides.

Check Your Power Access

Professional body sculpting devices — including the ultrasound cavitation and radio frequency machines used for non-surgical fat reduction — run from a standard UK three-pin socket. Before your appointment:

  • Identify a socket within roughly 1.5 metres of where you’ll be lying
  • Use an extension lead if needed (a standard 4-gang extension is fine)
  • Avoid overloading the same socket with high-draw appliances like electric heaters

A reliable power supply means no interruptions mid-treatment.

Prepare the Treatment Area

A few minutes of tidying makes a real difference to how smoothly the session runs:

  • Clear the floor of trip hazards — bags, cables, shoes, pets
  • Remove fragile items from any surface Wumi might set kit down on
  • Lay down a spare towel or two if you are on a wooden or tiled floor, both for comfort and in case any gel is transferred
  • Keep the room warm — you will be partially undressed and RF and cavitation treatments are more comfortable in a warm environment; aim for at least 20°C

What to Do in the Hours Before

Preparation actually starts before Wumi arrives. The treatments Wumi uses — including lymphatic drainage massage and vacuum therapy — work in close partnership with your lymphatic system, so hydration matters.

TimingWhat to do
Morning of appointmentDrink at least 500 ml of water before the session
2 hours beforeAvoid a heavy meal; light eating is fine
1 hour beforeSkip vigorous exercise — gentle movement is fine
30 minutes beforeShower if possible; avoid applying thick body creams to the treatment area
Day beforeAvoid alcohol; stay hydrated throughout

Arriving at your own front door well-hydrated and without a full stomach gives the treatment the best possible environment to work.

What to Wear — and What to Set Aside

Wear loose, easy-to-remove clothing. Treatments such as tummy and waist sculpting or thigh sculpting require direct access to the skin, so elastic-waist trousers or a wrap skirt are easier than fitted jeans. Avoid shapewear or compression garments immediately before the session.

You do not need to provide a gown — Wumi will ensure appropriate draping throughout the treatment so you remain comfortable and covered except in the area being worked on.

After the Treatment: Set Up Your Recovery Space

Part of the benefit of a home visit is that your recovery space is already there. Before your appointment, take five minutes to set it up:

  • A large glass of water ready on your bedside table — you should drink at least 500 ml in the hour after treatment
  • Comfortable, loose clothing to change into
  • A light snack if you tend to feel lightheaded after treatments
  • No vigorous plans for the next two to three hours — a gentle walk is ideal, but avoid the gym immediately after

Pets and Other People in the Home

Wumi works professionally and is used to real home environments — a dog in the hallway or a sleeping child in the next room is not a problem. That said, for your own comfort and focus during the treatment, it helps to:

  • Arrange for pets to be in a different room during the session
  • Let other household members know you are not to be disturbed for the duration
  • Keep the room as quiet as possible — treatments like lymphatic drainage massage are significantly more relaxing without interruptions

Booking and What Happens Next

If this is your first appointment, a £20 consultation takes place before any hands-on treatment begins. This 30-minute conversation covers your goals, health history, and which treatments are most appropriate for you — it is non-refundable and required for all new clients. You must be 18 or over.

Once you have had your consultation, booking subsequent sessions is straightforward via the online booking page. Wumi covers all 33 London boroughs, plus Kent and Essex — core postcodes DA, ME, BR, SE, E, N, IG and RM carry no travel surcharge.

You can explore every treatment in our complete body sculpting guide.

Non-surgical treatments have no downtime, but results build gradually and vary between individuals. Not a weight-loss or medical service. A consultation and suitability check are required; you must be 18 or over.
