Why Combine RF and Cavitation?
Ultrasound cavitation and radio frequency target different layers of tissue — which is exactly why pairing them makes sense. Cavitation uses low-frequency sound waves to disrupt the membranes of fat cells beneath the skin, releasing their contents so the body can process them through the lymphatic system. RF, meanwhile, delivers controlled heat energy into the deeper dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production, firming and tightening the skin from within.
Used separately, each technology addresses one part of the picture. Used together — as part of a planned course of treatment — they work on both the fat layer and the skin quality at the same time. This is particularly relevant for areas where fat reduction may otherwise leave the skin looking loose, such as the abdomen, inner thighs, and upper arms.
You can read more about both technologies individually in the ultrasound cavitation and RF guide, or explore the broader landscape of options in the body sculpting guide.
How a Combined Session Is Structured
A typical combined session at Wumi Body & Face Studio follows a logical sequence. Cavitation is usually performed first. The practitioner applies a conductive gel to the target area and moves the handpiece in slow, steady strokes. The treatment is virtually painless — most clients describe a low-frequency hum or mild warmth.
Once cavitation is complete on the treatment zone, RF is applied to the same area. The controlled heat feels warming and is generally comfortable. RF encourages the skin tissue to contract slightly and triggers the fibroblasts responsible for collagen production. The result, over a course of sessions, is a gradual tightening and smoothing effect on the skin surface.
A session typically lasts 45 to 75 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated. There is no downtime — clients can return to their day immediately.
Treatment Areas Best Suited to the Combination
The combined approach is most commonly requested for areas where both fat reduction and skin firmness are concerns:
- Abdomen and waist — particularly post-pregnancy or after significant weight change, where loose skin alongside stubborn fat is common
- Inner and outer thighs — where fat deposits and reduced skin elasticity often appear together
- Upper arms — a common area of concern, especially for skin that has lost firmness
- Flanks and back — where stubborn pockets resist diet and exercise

What to Expect From Results
Results from a combined RF cavitation course build gradually. The body needs time to process released fat cell contents via the lymphatic system, and collagen remodelling from RF continues for several weeks after each session. Most clients begin to notice visible changes from the third or fourth session onwards.
A course of six to ten sessions is generally recommended, spaced five to seven days apart to allow the lymphatic system to process waste between appointments. Staying well hydrated, reducing alcohol, and maintaining a balanced diet support the process.
It is important to be realistic: results vary between individuals, and this treatment is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. The aim is to improve the appearance of targeted areas — not to achieve dramatic weight loss.
Why a Combined Protocol at Wumi
Wumi Adewumi has over ten years of experience in non-surgical body sculpting and is certified through the CPD-accredited Curvology Academy. The studio is fully insured through Salon Gold and Hiscox, and sessions are tailored to each client following a £20 consultation.
Because no two bodies are the same, the combination of cavitation and RF is adapted to the client’s specific concerns, skin condition, and treatment goals. If additional support for skin tightening or contouring is beneficial, treatments such as vacuum therapy or lymphatic drainage massage may be incorporated into a wider programme.
Mobile or Studio: Flexible Access Across the UK
Wumi offers the combined RF cavitation treatment both from the studio at Copperfields Walk, Dartford, Kent DA1 2DE and through a mobile home service. The mobile service covers all 33 London boroughs, Kent, and Essex, with no surcharge for core postcodes including DA, ME, BR, SE, N, E, IG, and RM. Other areas may incur a travel charge from £15.
If you are considering a combined treatment course, book a consultation or get in touch to discuss your goals and find out whether this approach is right for you.
Starting With a Consultation
All new clients at Wumi Body & Face Studio begin with a 30-minute consultation (£20, non-refundable). This is the time to discuss the areas you want to address, your health history, and what a realistic course of treatment looks like for your specific situation. You must be 18 or over to book.
A consultation ensures the combined RF cavitation protocol is suitable for you and allows Wumi to design a session plan with your individual goals in mind — rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach.
You can explore every treatment in our complete body sculpting guide.
Non-surgical treatments have no downtime, but results build gradually and vary between individuals. Not a weight-loss or medical service. A consultation and suitability check are required; you must be 18 or over.
