Cavitation Aftercare UK: How to Maximise Your Results

What you do in the 72 hours after each cavitation session matters as much as the treatment itself. Follow these aftercare steps to help your body process released fat cells efficiently and see the best possible outcome.

Ultrasound cavitation disrupts fat cells, but the body still needs time and support to flush them out. Understanding proper cavitation aftercare in the UK means knowing what to do — and what to avoid — in the critical 72-hour window after each session. This guide gives you the practical steps Wumi recommends to every client at the studio in Dartford and on home visits across Kent, London, and Essex.

Why Aftercare Determines Your Results

During a cavitation session, low-frequency ultrasound waves create pressure inside fat cells, breaking them apart. The released fatty acids and triglycerides then enter the lymphatic system and bloodstream to be processed by the liver and eliminated. This is a gradual biological process — it does not happen the moment you leave the treatment table.

If you go home and eat a high-fat meal, drink alcohol, or stay sedentary for the next two days, you are asking your body to process two competing fat loads at once. Your aftercare choices directly influence how efficiently that clearance happens, and therefore how visible your results become over your course of treatments.

Hydration: The Single Most Important Step

Drink 2–3 litres of water in the 24 hours after each session, and maintain at least 2 litres daily throughout your treatment course. The lymphatic system — your body’s primary waste-clearance network — depends on adequate fluid. Without it, the metabolic by-products from disrupted fat cells move sluggishly and take longer to clear.

Practical tips:

  • Start the morning of your appointment well-hydrated; arrive having already had at least one large glass of water.
  • Carry a water bottle and sip consistently rather than drinking large amounts in one go.
  • Herbal teas (peppermint, dandelion, green tea) support hydration and liver function.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours — alcohol competes with the liver’s capacity to process fatty acids and will slow elimination.

What to Eat (and Avoid) in the First 48 Hours

Your liver is doing extra work after cavitation. Support it with clean, light eating.

Prioritise:

  • Lean proteins: grilled chicken, fish, eggs, legumes
  • Leafy greens and fibrous vegetables: broccoli, spinach, cucumber
  • Complex carbohydrates: brown rice, oats, sweet potato
  • Citrus and antioxidant-rich fruits in moderate portions

Avoid:

  • Fried, heavily processed, or high-fat foods
  • Refined sugar and white carbohydrates
  • Alcohol (see hydration section above)
  • Excessive salt, which causes water retention and can mask progress

You do not need to follow a strict diet long-term, but the 48 hours post-session are when dietary choices have the most direct impact on how your body handles the treatment.

Movement and Exercise After Cavitation

Light cardiovascular exercise immediately after your session — a 30-minute brisk walk is ideal — actively stimulates the lymphatic system and helps initiate the clearance process. Unlike the blood circulatory system, the lymphatic system has no pump of its own; it relies on muscle movement and breathing to flow.

Throughout your treatment course, maintaining regular low-to-moderate exercise (three to five sessions per week) will enhance and prolong your results. This does not mean intensive gym sessions are required; consistent walking, cycling, yoga, or swimming all contribute.

If Wumi is visiting you at home as part of our mobile body sculpting service, a short walk before or after the appointment makes a meaningful difference.

Add Lymphatic Drainage for Faster Clearance

Of all the aftercare options available, lymphatic drainage massage has the most direct clinical rationale when combined with cavitation. By manually stimulating the lymph nodes and encouraging fluid flow through the lymphatic vessels, it accelerates the removal of metabolised fat — the step that often limits how quickly results become visible.

At Wumi Body & Face Studio, many clients combine cavitation with a lymphatic drainage massage in the same appointment or as a follow-up session. Read more in our lymphatic drainage guide.

Skin Care Around the Treated Area

The skin over the treated area may feel slightly warm or look mildly pink immediately after the session; this is normal and typically resolves within a few hours. In the days following treatment:

  • Avoid hot baths, saunas, and steam rooms for 24–48 hours (heat causes vasodilation, which can increase fluid retention in the short term).
  • Keep the area moisturised — dry skin reduces the skin’s elasticity and can slow the visible tightening effect that often accompanies fat reduction.
  • If Wumi has also used radio frequency in your session, SPF protection on exposed areas is advisable in the days afterwards.

How Many Sessions Do You Need?

A single cavitation session produces a detectable change in the treated area, but visible contouring results typically build over a course of six to ten sessions spaced one to two weeks apart. The aftercare you practise between sessions is cumulative — consistent hydration, clean eating, and movement between each appointment compounds the result.

Your £20 consultation with Wumi will result in a personalised treatment plan based on your body composition, target areas, and lifestyle. Wumi works with clients across Dartford, Kent, all 33 London boroughs, and Essex, including home visits where the full treatment experience — including aftercare advice — comes to you.

Cavitation is part of a wider range of non-surgical body sculpting options available at the studio. You can explore the full range at /body-sculpting-uk or get in touch if you have questions before booking.

Non-surgical treatments have no downtime, but results build gradually and vary between individuals. Not a weight-loss or medical service. A consultation and suitability check are required; you must be 18 or over.
